The Nokia N95 8GB is an updated version of the standard N95. It has a larger screen - now 2.8 inches, 8GB memory, an improved battery life and is dressed in black. With a 2-way slide mechanism, a numeric keypad slides out from one end while dedicated media keys slide out from the opposite direction, converting the display into full screen landscape mode.

Nokia readying full-keyboard Nseries, E71 phones?

Nokia could be taking its first serious steps into popularizing its full-keyboard smartphones, say a pair of leaks. A new claim by BGR suggests that the company is in the early stages of developing its first N-series phone to sport a full QWERTY keyboard; the device would be smaller and more candybar-like in keeping with the Nseries focus but have many of the benefits of an E-series keyboard, the tip suggests.

Navteq shareholders OK $8.1B acquisition by Nokia

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Navteq (NYSE:NVT) Corp. said Wednesday its shareholders have approved the company’s acquisition by Nokia (NYSE:NOK) Corp. for $78 a share, or about $8.1 billion. More than 75% of the issued and outstanding shares of common stock eligible to vote, representing about 99% of the total votes cast at the special meeting, were cast in favor of the deal, the Chicago-based digital-map provider said.

NAVTEQ shareholders approved merger with Nokia

Adoption of the merger agreement by NAVTEQ stockholders satisfies one of the conditions to completion of the merger between NAVTEQ and Nokia. Navteq Shareholders OK Nokia Deal

NEW YORK (Associated Press) - Shareholders of digital mapmaker Navteq Corp. approved the company’s acquisition by cell-phone maker Nokia Corp. by an overwhelming majority Wednesday at a special meeting. The vote should clear the way for the $8.1 billion transaction to close shortly. Antitrust regulators signed off on the deal last week. Navteq produces maps and software found in car navigation systems, portable navigation devices and Internet map sites.

Nokia Claims Ogg Format is “Proprietary”

While these codecs that are proposed are FREE, they are not widely supported. Firstly, Nokia wants complete ecosystem, where content of the future is available on the web now. We have YouTube. Do you really think they are going to convert their whole digital library to Ogg just because some company proposed it as their next standard. No. Nokia just wants to leverage the power W3C has to make it promote the file formats it already supports. AAC is used in iTunes library. Nothing more is needed.

FRANKFURT, Dec. 7, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Nokia (NYSE:NOK) Siemens (NYSE:SI) Networks, the joint-venture of Siemens AG and Nokia OYJ, plans to grow stronger than what it sees as a sluggish 2008 telecoms market, chief executive Simon Beresford-Wylie told Boersen-Zeitung. Beresford-Wylie said he expects only moderate demand growth for mobile and fixed-line infrastructure during 2008, without specifying a percentage.

Nokia Siemens Networks wins HSDPA technology order from Telenor s Danish unit

HELSINKI, Dec. 5, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Nokia (NYSE:NOK) Siemens (NYSE:SI) Networks said it has won an order to upgrade the 3G mobile network of Sonofon, the Danish unit of Norway’s Telenor, with High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology to boost data transmission speeds.
