Kodak, Nokia in in patent cross-license agreement news

Eastman Kodak and top mobile handset maker Nokia have entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement that will allow each company access to the other’s intellectual property portfolio. The license agreement, provides for Kodak to receive royalties from Nokia, Kodak said ina statement, without disclosing specific financial terms of the deal.

Google’s revolutionary phone G1 powered by its own Android operating system is really going places. Within a week of its unveiling, world’s largest payment processor Visa has declared that it will make a mobile payment application for the product, including alerts for credit card usage. The phone is expected to be out in stores in the latter half of next month.

Yahoo! played its latest card in the ultracompetitive mobile-search game with the expansion of its voice-recognition technology to find information on some Nokia and BlackBerry handsets. After installing Yahoo!’s oneSearch 2.0 software, users of phones like Nokia’s N95 can find news, stock quotes, weather and other information.

Mobile Money Visa will debut its payment and payment-related services on the Nokia 6212 Classic starting in October. Consumers will be able to use their handsets to make contactless payments, remote payments, and money transfers to other Visa account holders; they will also receive near real-time alerts and notifications relating to activity on their credit card accounts.

Monday, 29 September 2008 San Francisco — Visa Inc. last week announced its strategy to promote its services to the mobile phone market through developing mobile payment application for the new wireless phones powered by both Nokia mobile handsets and those running Google s new Android platform. Additionally, Visa announced a pilot program that allows U.S. Bank Visa cardholders to transfer money using a mobile phone.

Qatari mobile operator Qtel and Nokia Siemens Networks have signed a commercial mobile TV deployment contract based on DVB-H and OMA BCast Smart Card Profile technology. Nokia Siemens Networks will supply Qtel with DVB-H systems to provide an enhanced TV viewing service on mobile phones with the added flexibility of selecting a subscription payment model. Nokia Siemens Networks will roll out the DVB-H system with OMA BCast Smart Card Profile for Qtel.

New Delhi: Nokia displayed some of its best GPS handsets at the Mobile Asia 2008. Amongst the first to be showcased, was the Nokia N96 slider phone, which has a built-in 16GB memory, with an option to enhance it further through a MicroSD memory slot. This new model can hook up to wireless networks using its Wi-Fi feature, and is capable of capturing some stunning images through the 5 mega-pixel camera that features Carl Zeiss optics.
